Urgals
Urgals are ugly gnasty creatures. They are a warlike people with warchiefs, clans, tribes,
etc. Urgals come in many shapes and sizes. As described in Eragon, “They resembled men with bowed legs
and thick, brutish arms made for crushing. A pair of twisted horns grew above their small ears.”
Another kind of urgal is the Kull. Kull have large arms and legs, stand over eight feet tall, and destroy whatever
they come into contact with (usually). They can travel for days without the need for food or shelter.
In Eragon, the urgals became enslaved by durza, the shade employed by king galbatorix. Normally, they fight each
other, in clan wars, but when enslaved, they fought side by side.
During book one, the Urgals discovered a collapsed tunnel of the Dwarves, so they entered the tunnel and found the Varden.
When eragon kills durza, at the end of book one, the urgals are freed, and they begin fighting themselves, retreating.
In eldest, eragon befriends an urgal warchief, a kull actually, and they fight empire soldiers side by side.
